Day 22: We’ve landed

What a flight.

First, in the morning (still in LA), we had breakfast, drove off to Avis, found out we drove exactly 5526 miles with the car (8893 km), 101 hours, with an average of 55 miles or 88 km per hour.

But first, the flight. We left on time in LAX to Atlanta. Arriving there we walked to the plane, were there right on time. And then it began.

Ladies and gentlemen, there seems to be a problem with oil pressure.

Dammit!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have to taxi to a gate to get a part replaced, which will take 30 minutes

(when the pilot said this an hour had already passed)

Luckily, the part replaced was the problem, some sensor, because if it was the actual pump we would have to change airplane.

We flew out to Brussels, picked up our luggage, and Nicky’s dad picked us up there (thanks!).

We went home, cleaned up our luggage, Nicky was so happy she tripped and fell against the door (really! I didn’t hit her!). Now she has a nice bruise!

We went to bed at ~11:30pm.

Day 21: Giant Sequoia National Monument

The day that we didn’t like to think of, our last day, the one that would inevitably come.

Due to time constraints we didn’t go back to Yosemite National Park, but drove off to Giant Sequoia National Monument.

(we didn’t have a car breakdown on the hills, luckily Smile with tongue out)

And upon returning to our car we were met with this new creature who wanted to ride along. Who am I to deny that to him/her/it Open-mouthed smile

Big trees. Very big trees!

Our car, after so many miles! DIRTY!

So that was it.

We have 4 more hours to drive to LAX. Too tired and too dirty to sleep in the car, we rented a motel 30 minutes from the Avis drop-off.

Goodnight!

Day 20: Driving to (and through) Yosemite

What a hard day to wake up, VERY sore from the jet-ski, Nicky had to kick me out of bed.

The breakfast was better, we had waffles, the motel wasn’t expensive (luckily Open-mouthed smile), so completely refreshed we started driving to Yosemite.

We told in the previous post that we would head out to Yosemite yesterday, however after the filling pancake dinner at iHop we stranded at a motel not too far from iHop, we couldn’t stay awake.

So, now that things are set straight (we don’t want to lie to you Open-mouthed smile), we can tell you about our drive to and through Yosemite.

It was a beautiful drive, lots of hills (car consumed too much Smile with tongue out), lots of trees, beautiful views. Some pictures to prove that:

Beautiful!

Continuing our drive we saw a lake, and me being me, I jumped in!

We took a walk on some trail:

We didn’t enter Yosemite itself that day, we drove off to Madera, CA for a cheap motel.

Have a good one,

Day 19: Lake Tahoe II

Wow, what a day, our first real ‘vacation’ day, as my mom takes vacation. We didn’t too much.

The alarm clock went off at 7.00am, however somebody (me Smile with tongue out, Nicky is mad about it) snoozed too much. I turned the alarm clock off, so it was 8.30am when we got up.
The breakfast was the worst of our vacation, just 2 things you could eat, but ok, we got something (although we prefer pancakes for breakfast! Open-mouthed smile)

We then went to the beach and decided to hire a jet-ski for both of us. It was so much fun!!! Now we want our own jet-ski’s Sad smile.  The thing goes so fast you fly off your seat every time you hit a wave. The thing hits like 45-50mph (73kph – 81kph). When you get used to the throtle you look for larger waves, and hit them to jump!! Exciting stuff. We had one hour the time and we can tell you, one hour for the first time on a jet-ski is enough because your legs and arms feel sore.

Then we had Subway for lunch and after that we went back to the beach to do just nothing.

It feels good to have a calmer day.

Now we’re in iHop near Carson City for a small dinner (and we’re both exploding… again).

Now off to Yosemite! Have a good one!
